I love living in Lane Cove with my family because of its village-style town centre, walkability, beautiful bushland, access to water, excellent council facilities, safety, open spaces, and vibrant local businesses.
As our population in Lane Cove continues to grow, so does the need to support the health, wellbeing, and care of our community. I am dedicated to finding the perfect balance between the demands of our built environment and the preservation of our natural surroundings.
With my background as an architect, I confidently engage in discussions about proposed and existing developments with both the council and the community, addressing projects of all sizes. My goal is for Lane Cove to meet housing growth demands in a way that preserves the village feel and the urban canopy we cherish.
To compliment a growing population we have increased sporting facilities, children's playgrounds and planned a new home for the Lane Cove Theatre company.
Working on the traffic committee in 2022 and 2023, I listened to residents' concerns about road traffic and collaborated with Transport for NSW and council staff to find effective solutions. Maintaining footpaths is a council responsibility, and with our progressive upgrades, we have made pedestrian movement around Lane Cove more accessible for everyone.
As a bushwalker, I spend a lot of time in the surrounding leafy areas. I have greatly enjoyed being involved with the bushland community of Lane Cove and remain committed to ensuring our precious and fragile bushland receives the care it needs to thrive.
What next if re-elected...you have told me
-
Strengthen Bushland and urban tree preservation: Our bushland, surveys tell us, ranks of high value to the Lane Cove community. It needs constant care of the bushtracks, weeds and regeneration programing. In addition there is the ongoing vandalism of our bushland which I will continue to advocate to address with harsher penalties. And lets keep building up our street tree canopy too!
-
Safer, less busy back streets in Central Ward: As our population grows so does the traffic. There is a rise in back street "rat runs" in Lane Cove central ward and like council has just completed for the north ward, we need a traffic study and plan to address our ward now.
-
Improve our street by sorting out the boat tralier parking: This has become a big issue! Boat parking for extended periods limits the use of on street parking by the residents in the street and casues visibility issues reversing out of driveways. I will focus on finding a way that council can address this item outside of the state regulations.
-
Manage our open green spaces and sports fields better: The war between sports users and dog owners is continuing in Lane Cove. I will advocate for a professional and moderated commitee which brings all users of our greenspaces and sportsfields together to find a solution that is fair to all the residents of our area.
-
Maintain and improve our built assets: I have spoken to many of our community clubs and there are items in the buildings that they lease from council that need to be addressed. From upgrades to club house kitchens, safety and compliance concerns, new boat ramps, unused bowling greens, dealing with rust and deteriation of the building fabric. I am a big believer that our council assets need to be maintained and kept to a standard that maximises their use by our community. These are not big spend items but the longer they are left unmaintained the more they cost to fix!
-
Heat the Lane Cove 50m pool longer in winter: We have given it a go but it did not stick. There is fine tuning to resolve with keeping the temperature consistant in winter over longer periods but we can work this out. I would advocate to get it happening for our next winter season of swimmers.
-
Implement and update our bike plan:* I have not been directly involved with the Bike Commitee or planning but have noticed that not all of it has been completed. It was a great plan when it was introduced but the implementation is critical. Lets get this realy happening on our streets.
